Downhole motor

Down-hole motor is a positive-displacement motor. It converts high fluid power into mechanical energy of bit rotation. Down-hole motor is widely used for drilling, deflecting, azimuth control, coring, reaming, side tracking drilling and workover for horizontal well, cluster wells and straight well of oilfields and coal mines. In addition, it is suitable for complex drilling

Downhole Motor Working Principle


Downhole motor is a kind of downhole dynamic drilling tool upon the power of drilling mud. Mud stream from the outlet of mud pump flows through a by-pass valve into the motor. This stream produces pressure loss at both inlet and outlet of the pump, to push the rotor into rotating, and to transmit the torque and speed onto the bit. The downhole motor property mainly depends upon its property parameters.


 Constitution of Downhole Motor 

Downhole motor is composed of five assemblies of bearing, power section, coupling, anti-drop and bypass valve.

Features of High Flow Rate Down-hole Motor	Features of Uniform Wall Thickness Down- hole Motor
The adoption of hollow rotor cooperating with hard alloy jet nozzle of different sizes increases input flow rate and proppant carrying capacity.	This down-hole motor can effectively solve the problem of uneven thickness of motor's rubber. Its characteristics are as follows: high pressure enduring for single grade, large output power, wide range of high efficiency, etc.
Features of Bent Angle Adjustable Down-hole Motor	Features of Near Bit Down-hole Motor
The bend angle of down-hole motor can be adjusted on wellhead. Stabilizers of different shapes and sizes can be changed according to different requirements.	Measure point of measuring instrument is installed in downhole motor, which is nearer to drilling bit. Drill track is more accurate and reliable.
Features of Standard Down-hole Motor	Features of Saturated Saltwater Mud Resistant Down-hole Motor
Standard power section; the transmission shaft is lubricated by drilling fluid; available in vertical, single-bend and double-bend types; maximum working temperature is 120°C.	The special coating layer of rotor has stronger ability of corrosion and wear resistance, enabling down-hole motors to work a long time in saturated saltwater mud.
Features of Oil-sealed Transmission Shaft Down-hole Motor	Features of High Temperature Resistant Down-hole Motor
The working environment of thrust bearing and radial bearing is improved, and the working time of down-hole motor during one single trip is increased.	The stator is equipped with superior quality high temperature resistant rubber, which enables down-hole motor to perform stably for a long time under the hole where temperature even reaches 150°C and180°C.
Features of Extended Down-hole Motor	Features of High Deflection Down-hole Motor
The torque is increased by 30% to 60% compared with standard down-hole motors; the transmission shaft is lubricated by drilling fluid; available in vertical, single- bend and double-bend types; maximum working temperature: 120°C.	The unique structure makes the motor shorter, the bending point closer to drill bit, and higher build-up rate.
